KRA Monthly Spotlight!

As the month celebrating both Disability Awareness and Developmental Disabilities Awareness, we say good-bye to March—but not to KRA’s dedication to community-based, workforce-services programs that support our jobseeker-customers with disabilities, including those of a developmental origin. However, communities differ widely in their needs, as well as their resources to address those needs. Thus, KRA programs customize service-delivery systems to provide the highest possible quality of service to persons with any type of disability that presents an obstacle to gainful employment. All WIOA American Job Centers (AJC) and TANF Employment Programs (TEP), operated by KRA, develop collaborative relationships with local disability-services agencies, e.g. Departments of Rehabilitation Services, Disability Services (DDS), and Vocational

Despite impressive accomplishments, her fragile state-of-mind caused her to doubt her own capability to ever work again. However, Carnell Pinkney, KRA/BBSD Employment Specialist, worked diligently with Diana to ease her feelings of

One of the many innovative workforce-services programs that achieves exceptional results through the KRA San Diego Metro Region Career Centers, operated for the San Diego Workforce Partnership, is Breaking Barriers San Diego (BBSD). BBSD also provides for 6-months’ post-placement follow-up services that support both the employer and the new employee. KRA Monthly Spotlight!

On the threshold of the month of May, which is National Mental Health Awareness Month, our Spotlight! is focused on the KRA/San Diego Metro Region Career Centers’ innovative new program, Breaking Barriers San Diego (BBSD), which supports area businesses in hiring jobseekers with mental-health challenges. KRA’s 2015 Community Care Campaign targeted disability employment as a high-priority workforce-services concern, collaborating with local private- and public-sector partners to initiate, expand, and/or support service-delivery systems that focus on customers’ abilities, not their disabilities. Under the auspices of the San Diego Workforce Partnership, KRA/San Diego has been able to implement BBSD, an employment program that
